Village de Castets et Castillon to Castets et castillon
A small community of around a thousand inhabitants, Castets-et-Castillon lies at the mouth of the Garonne and the Canal des Deux Mers, linking the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean. 193 km long, the canal has 53 locks, including 3 at Castets-et-Castillon, and its banks, formerly towpaths, have been converted into a greenway enabling the most adventurous cyclists to reach the Etang de Thau (Sète) in just a few days… The small port of Castets-et-Castillon and Bruno, its captain, welcome a large number of boats and other barges, both temporary and permanent.
The village has a rich history, with the Château du Hamel, a listed historic monument, its two churches, Saint Louis and Saint Romain, and its Eiffel bridge dating from 1915.
