Saint-Germain-de-Grave_Église_01

Church of Saint-Germain in Saint-Germain-de-Graves to Saint-germain-de-grave

The neo-Romanesque parish church is part of the sanctuary building movement that developed in the Bordeaux vineyards in the second half of the 19th century. It was built from the stones of the former Romanesque church located in the middle of the current cemetery; architectural elements from the first church, such as capitals, were salvaged to build the new one. The bell tower-porch fronts the building on the side facing the main road. There is a painting depicting Saint-Louis receiving the angel’s halo while praying with a crucifix in his hand, in keeping with the spirit of the Restoration and the Catholic Reconquest.
