Memorial site of the Forgotten Cemetery and the Gravedigger’s House to Cadillac-sur-garonne

The Cimetière des Oubliés is a burial ground linked to the history of the psychiatric hospital. Owned by the local authority, the Carré des combattants and its boundary wall are partially listed as Historic Monuments. Nearly 900 metal crosses, installed in the 1950s, can be seen among the 4,000 earthen graves. Inside, a military square contains 98 graves of servicemen from the 1914-1918 war. In the Maison du Fossoyeur (Gravedigger’s House), a simple scenography is proposed, made up of picture rails with texts and images, and sound and visual projections, which allow visitors to discover both a collective and individual history, with in particular the three stations equipped with audio headsets proposing stories or testimonies. A touch-sensitive table displays the names of the Forgotten Ones.
