Church of Saint-Loubert to Saint-loubert

This very simple 11th-century Bazadais-style church has the distinctive feature of being disorientated, facing north and south. It is built on the most difficult part of the parish, on a very steep slope, which justifies the 5 or 6 steps leading down to the nave. The reason for this is not topographical: the church was built on the foundations of an ancient villa, part of whose foundations were reused. The small square rubble stonework that forms the base of the nave walls, typical of early Romanesque art in Gascony, has made it possible to date the building.
